The route
Up the Rhône valley to Visp, then the Mattertal to Täsch.
From Geneva Airport we take the A1 along Lake Geneva to Lausanne and the A9 up the Rhône valley to Visp. The valley road then climbs towards Saas as far as Stalden, turns into the Mattertal and runs through St. Niklaus and Randa to Täsch — about 30 km from Visp.
Beyond Täsch the road to Zermatt is closed to private traffic. The minibus stops at the Matterhorn Terminal Täsch, and the last five kilometres are by shuttle train.

How arrival works in a car-free village.
Matterhorn Terminal Täsch
The terminal has 2,100 covered parking spaces and the station under the same roof: the group and its luggage go straight from the minibus to the platform.
Twelve minutes by shuttle
The shuttle train to Zermatt takes 12 minutes and runs every 20 minutes through the day. In the village, electric taxis carry people and bags to the hotels.
Skiing into Italy
Zermatt's ski area is linked over the border to Breuil-Cervinia and Valtournenche — the Matterhorn, at 4,478 m, stands between the two.
No border on the way
The route from Geneva Airport stays in Switzerland, on the A1 and A9 motorways and the Mattertal road — no customs, no passports to show on the road.

Train via Visp
From Geneva the train runs to Visp, where the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn takes over to Zermatt, about every half hour. Allow about three and a half to four hours, with a change and all the luggage.
Scheduled coach from Geneva
Shared shuttles fill seat by seat and stop for other passengers. For a full chalet with skis, a minibus to Täsch timed to your landing is usually the simpler choice.
A private minibus
It leaves when your group has landed, goes straight to your address, and costs the same whether you are 8 or 16 — which is why, for a whole chalet, it often works out close to the per-seat price of shared transport.

Can you drive us all the way into Zermatt?
No — Zermatt is car-free and the road beyond Täsch is closed to private traffic. We drop the group at the Matterhorn Terminal Täsch, where the shuttle train leaves from the same building: 12 minutes to Zermatt, every 20 minutes.
Do we cross a border?
No. From the Swiss side of Geneva Airport the route stays in Switzerland, on the A1, the A9 and the Mattertal road to Täsch.
Is the price to Zermatt or to Täsch?
To the Matterhorn Terminal Täsch, the last point a road vehicle can reach. The shuttle train ticket to Zermatt is bought separately at the terminal.
